Mayor Patricia Christensen is enlisting city residents to help get the Crosstown Parkway bridge built over the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. Christensen encouraged residents Friday during her State of the City address to lobby state and federal agencies to grant the environmental permits that have held up construction of the river crossing. .

Even into my years of driving, we have done the same. Only now that it is just my wife and I we do try to find a place to stop over night to and from. Personally I would rather get there and have more time for the Cape. But I am learning to take things a little easier now that the kids are not along for the ride. This year is a little different, with us changing to a September visit, I almost feel a little anxiety. My mind is trying to tell me something but my body is not listening. I know in my head I should be packing the car, making last minute arrangements and checking to be sure I haven’t forgotten anything.
